So now I have slept, worked, eaten and it's time to continue my recap of Gamingpalooza 2. All together, the following games were played: Blokus, mmm Brains, Betrayal at House on the Hill (X2), Mall of Horror (X2), Lord of the Rings, Gloom, Let's Kill, Fury of Dracula, Power Grid, and Munchkin Bites. Of course I didn't get to play all of them. But it was a ton of games being played.
Well, sometimes you just need to have a lot of gaming in an expanded amount of time. For that, I introduced Gamingpalooza to my game group. Gamingpalooza is when I set out a block of about 10-12 hours and invite everyone over and lots of games are played, often 2-3 at a time. We had about 15 people show up and most of them stayed for the entire time. It was a lot of fun and I feel really lucky to have such great friends. Everyone treats each other fairly well when they are here, and my guess is that everyone had a great time.
The first thing that was entertaining was that I thought it was at 2, but in fact it started at 1. Luckily someone was at my house to let them in. So by the time I got there, my house was full of people. Entertainingly, I hadn't met all of them. So the introduction was something along the lines of "Hey, I'm Colin and this is my house." It amused me. For those that know me, this is especially suprising as I have a predisposition to being ontime in that with the except of work in the morning, I am ALWAYS on time for things. As for work..... well it's work and they expect me to be there in the morning? How is that reasonable.
So what are we going to do with this site, you might be asking. I'm glad you asked. We are going to do quite a few things.
I should start with why we named it "obsessed with gaming." Well, I'm someone who has a predisposition to addiction. Always have, and I don't mean drugs, or alcohol or smoking, but I mean hobbies. Oh yes, hobbies. I can be sitting at work and suddenly be unable to get the thought of what I want to do that night out of my mind. I'm going to go into a lot more detail about this later so...
Board Games.... I like them. In fact, I like them a lot. Shopping for them is hard though. For one, they can be quite pricey. At upwards of $90, it can be a tad risky for all but the most economically advantaged of us. Then, there is this problem where lots of them suck. Oh, and I don't mean like when you go see a movie and it's entertaining and so you sit through it and think "well that was all right." I mean, some of them are horrible and are destined to sit on your shelf collecting dust and reminding you of the $50 that you will never get back.
